Great introduction to the weather for kids and adults

Schneider's book is just as relevant and entertaining to read today as it was 30 years when I first encountered it in my public school library. It provides the reader with an excellent overview of the dynamics and patterns that help shape the weather. Best part of all, you get a full section on how to build your very own weather station - hair hygrometer, wet and dry bulb hygrometer, anemometer, barometer, rain gauge, wind vane, etc - using milk cartons, balloons, cheesecloth, coat hangers, funnels, broom bristles and other common household items. Make no mistake this isn't some shoddy setup, these are pretty sophisticated and surprisingly accurate machines with needles and gauge readouts. This is the book that scored me an A on a science project, it got me hooked on meteorology and hopefully it will do the same for you too.

The Kid Weather Man (or Woman!)

Back in the late 1950s or early '60s, somebody gave me a copy of "Everyday Weather and How It Works" as a birthday gift. It became one of my favorite books as a kid--and I still have it, as a matter of fact. The author not only explains the scientific forces of meterology, but also gets into practical applications of that information. Using readily available items, the book shows how to construct working weather instruments--hygrometer, anemometer, rain guage, and more. When you finish, you have a working weather station and some knowledge about forecasting tomorrow's conditions using the data you've collected. It was a blast when I was a kid.

Great projects to make at end of book and great information about weather. I would recommend book to others. Glad I bought this book.
