About the Author
dele jegede is the chairperson for the Department of Art at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. He holds a PhD in art history from Indiana University, has published numerous articles, and has participated in many group shows and exhibitions.

Look Elsewhere

This is a very light-weight book on African American Art. It breaks no new ground and the information that is provided is substantially less than can be gotten from other publications on African American Art by Samella Lewis, Sharon Patton, Richard Powell, Thomas Riggs, or David Driskell. For the dollars spent and the value received, it is tremendously overpriced.

Good introduction for learning about African American Art.

This book is Great for a person who is just starting to learn about African American Art. The Information on the artists are not extensive. It's really a introduction to various artists. It still should be read and collected for your library.
